Buccellati Jewels Treasures

In the Halls of the Arts of the Reggia di Venaria, near Turin, the exhibition “The Art of Beauty. The Jewels of Gianmaria Buccellati” opens on March 21, with over 90 precious pieces, many of which are unpublished, created by the genius of the artist born in Milan in 1929. The exhibition, curated by Chiara Tinonin with Gianmaria and Rosie Buccellati, is the result of the collaboration between the “Consorzio La Venaria Reale”, the “Fondazione Gianmaria Buccellati” and the “Fondazione di Studi dell'Arte Orafa e dei suoi Protagonisti”, with the coordination of Swiss Luxury Culture Management.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: the first retraces Gianmaria's childhood journey in Milan between the two world wars, which saw his father Mario establish himself as the first Italian jeweler sensitive to the recovery of ancient Renaissance goldsmith techniques, close to Milanese high society and the cultural circles of La Scala, as well as a great friend of Gabriele D'Annunzio. With the contribution of art historian Paola Goretti, the entire series of plaques that the Poet commissioned to commemorate his exploits and the mottos he had coined to celebrate some of his most famous actions are exhibited for the first time.

The second section, “An Italian in the world”, retraces the most significant stages of Gianmaria's career after having inherited the legacy of his father, who passed away in 1965, with the opening of shops in the East and in Paris and the celebrations of his success around the world.

The itinerary ideally closes with the “unique” objects by Gianmaria Buccellati, including the Boscoreale Cups, inspired by the Boscoreale Treasure discovered in 1895 in the Roman villa of Pisanella, and the Precious Objects, cups that recall Florentine Renaissance goldsmithing.
